Dream BIG, little boy! (midweek mojo #39)

I've been so busy training at the new job, I've hardly had time to scrapbook! But I found a few minutes today, and was anxious to tackle this sketch - midweek mojo 39!

I seem to do so many layouts about my little girl - probably because girl pages are so much more fun - the paper selection is endless, embellishments are so easy to find, and they come together so much more easily than boy pages for me! But, I have lots of cute pictures and memories of my boys that need to be preserved, too! So I'm trying to do as many layouts featuring my boys as I do of my daughter.

I love the embossed background paper - it adds dimension, texture, and interest without having to find a bunch of embellishments!

The papers, title letters, chip board pieces, and journaling block are from KI Memories: Love, Elsie/Cody. The arrow chip board piece is from Fancy Pants Design, and I sprayed it with Chalkboard Glimmer Mist: Decadence color. After I glued down all my pictures, letters, everything, I decided to use my We R Memory Keepers Heart Attack tool to sand & distress the cardstock a little to make those embossed stars really pop... not sure I love the outcome, but it is what it is! :)

I often struggle with boy pages, but I'm happy with how this turned out!

Only a hippopotamus will do! (mwm 38)

Since I've been hired by the Steal Network, I officially can't enter the ScrapbookSteals midweek mojo drawing anymore, nor can I post my midweek mojo layouts on their facebook page (since it would post under "scrapbooksteals" instead of my name). But, I still want to complete the sketches as much as I have time for!

Here is the sketch for midweek mojo #38:

I love two page sketches/layouts! I've been doing more and more one page layouts, and have learned to REALLY love them as well (at first, I couldn't leave them at one page!), but I think I will always love a great two pager! I absolutely love the scrolls! Such a fun new element!

I started with white cardstock, and sprayed it with Creme de Chocolat & Strawberry Shortcake Glimmer Mists, and then used various papers from the American Crafts' Letterbox collection. This is one of my favorite midweek mojo sketches ever!

The journaling is about June singing "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" while playing hungry hungry hippos!

Sweet Dreams

My brother's girlfriend, Erin, posted this as her profile picture on facebook, and I fell.in.love! It's her and my nephew, Noah. Erin's birthday is coming up, so I decided to use the pic to make her a birthday gift.

The papers are from the new My Mind's Eye line, Good Day Sunshine.

my booboo

This might just be my favorite layout I've ever done! I followed a sketch from Pencil Lines Sketches (just found them last week).

The papers are all from Echo Park's Be Mine collection. The pink flower ribbon across the middle of the page is Bo Bunny. The flowers are from Imaginisce. I used my iRock to add flourishes by the flowers, added rub-ons to the thickers, and I edited the photo, making June's car seat black and white (instead of it's real tan/blue colors), and left just her in color (totally stole the idea from a scrapbooking friend - Chloe).

I.LOVE.THIS.PAGE!

Funny Girl

I didn't follow a sketch for this layout, but had seen some pages that included a film strip element, and I was dying to try adding one to a page of my own! I had all these cute pictures of June, just being funny. I googled images for film strips, pulled one I liked into photoshop, added a bunch of the pictures into the film strip, and then had it printed out at Costco.  The great thing about Costco photo center is that they print 8x12 pictures for the same price as an 8x10, and I wanted the strip to go across the entire page - this way, it did!

I used plain black cardstock for the background, but sprayed it with Tattered Angels' Glimmer Mist to give it some sparkle! The blue patterned papers are from Echo Park's A Walk In The Park, and I used some plain blue cardstock. I added some rub-ons to the Thickers to give them a custom finish, and I used my iRock (from imaginisce) to add rhinestone trails to the butterflies.  I think they turned out really cute! I love this page!

MWM 37

Midweek Mojo 37 brought another guest sketcher! Another Utah friend, Staci Jones, came up with this sketch:
My layout:

I used papers from two Echo Park collections - Sweet Summertime & A Walk In The Park! I really LOVE Echo Park! The title, journaling block, and ticket on the far left side are all also from EP AWITP.

Why?

Nearly a year ago, I got back into scrapbooking after taking several years off!  Scrapbooksteals.com was my inspiration for getting started again. They create a weekly sketch, and then have a giveaway to one person who completed that week's sketch and uploaded the picture to their facebook page. I'm going to add pics of the pages I've completed within the last year!
